Hello Parents and Students! I am excited to have you all this year. I look forward to the new curriculum and engagement we will have. If you are curious about a list of materials you need for the start of the year, check the attachment on this post. If you have questions feel free to email me. More will be added to this website as we go through this exciting school year. From, Mr. Henson
This week we have been focusing on plants and their functions. Math pages were pages 235-242. Our focus on math has been shapes, symmetry, and fractions. We are continuing to practice subtraction and multiplication. Each day we do a practice sheet to bolster their efficiency in the subject. Spelling list is attached below.
This week we are further focusing on biographies and looking over famous inventors. Both Thomas Edison and Ellon Musk are being inspected. Further, our goal in math is measurement. This upcoming Tuesday is Valentines. I do plan to have some activities that day for the students and they are earning points towards the goal to be able to have that on that day. Students will be allowed to exchange candy grams but I do have three rules for the event.
1. Students are not able to play favorites. Whatever they bring they bring for everyone and it is the same thing. (I do not wish for any students feelings to be hurt and with this day it is easy to do so.) 2. Students may only exchange the candy grams at the end of the day. (they cannot take them to recess or lunch to start passing them out as students will eat them and may leave messes or eat way to much.) 3. Students may have only 2 sweets in class and the rest must be taken home. (I will be having plenty of other sweets in the activities that i have planned for that day such as learning plate tectonics with graham crackers and marshmallows.) This week's homework for math focuses on money. I titled the unit Common Cents. All students have torn out 7.1-.74 out of their Go Math Homework books. Spelling lists are attached.
Challenge words are: walk, lawn, caught, because, taught, fault, guess, museum, practice, vacation, wonder, paw
